Sound Healing

Sound Healing 1:1 Treatments

Sound is a powerful tool for healing and transformation and has been used by many cultures for thousands of years.  Listening to therapeutic sounds takes the body into a state of deep relaxation where healing can occur and where the human body returns to its own natural resonant vibratory balance.  It calms the mind, relaxes the body and restores balance.

Sound is the fundamental force of creation.  Everything in the universe is made up of energy, vibrating at different frequencies and frequency creates sound.  All parts of the human body has its own frequency of vibration creating sounds not audible to the human ear.  The body is like an orchestra, if one part is playing out of tune, then the rest of the orchestra struggles to play in tune.  Lack of harmony spreads to the other parts.  An out of tune body begins to experience anxiety, stress, physical pain, emotional unease.

Restoring resonance and harmony to the out of tune body is a part of therapeutic and transformational application of sound to the body.  Our own voice is a great example of how sound can heal the body for example when a mother soothes her baby’s distress by singing to her or humming. Toning with the voice is a powerful tool used in Sound Healing for shifting stuck energy in the body, releasing blockages to emotional freedom and vitality.

Sound travels four times faster through water than it does through matter.  Our bodies are made up of 75% water and this facilitates our bodies to become entrained by the healing sounds.  You begin to vibrate in harmony and synchronise with the sounds.  This facilitates you entering into a deep meditative state, tuning in to your own rhythm, deeply relaxing and releasing the body of any uneasiness.

Every sound used during a Sound Healing Session carries a different vibration.  Our bodies change every day, our responses to life are mostly governed by our emotional reactions and our thoughts.  So each person will respond differently to a Sound Healing and will also respond differently from one session to another.

Different instruments such as gong, drums, Tibetan bowls, crystal singing bowls, crystal tuning forks, rattles and other smaller instruments are played in a sacred space of calmness, openness, non-judgement. The sounds help you cultivate space within yourself to find peace and bliss beneath the turmoil of our everyday lives.

What does a sound session look like?

A consultation is held between myself and the client at the beginning of the session to establish the goals and needs of the client. In a one to one session, the client lays fully clothed on a massage plinth, covered by warm blankets.

I will check their energy centres for any out of balance areas in the body.  I will guide them into a meditative state.

Intuitively I play an array of different sounds in the room.  I may play over the body or around the body with gongs or drums or other sound healing instruments.  I may also use some on the body such as therapeutic tuning forks or Tibetan bowls.  All of these produce sounds to release stuck or stagnant energy in the body which is blocking the flow of energy needed to live a life of balance and harmony.

Intentions can be encoded on to the sounds to amplify their effect.  Frequency added to intention leads to healing.  So the client can have a specific intention for the healing session.  This is a collaboration between the client, the healing sounds and myself as the facilitator of the healing.  All very powerful work.

For me personally, I believe Sound Healing is so holistic, so broad in its application to healing us on so many levels.

It feeds our minds, our bodies and our souls.  Sound is a creative force that vibrates you.  In the beginning, was the word and the word was with God has been said.  Sound transforms.

I tend to draw it into a lot of my treatments in some shape or form.  It could be tuning forks being added into a reflexology session, or into a massage treatment.  Sometimes a healing sound is called for in an energy healing treatment.

There is also the opportunity to experience sound healing in a group Sound Bath where everyone is laying on yoga mats listening to the healing sounds.

Shantih Sound Bowls

Sound Baths

In sound baths, the attendees are immersed in the sounds of gongs, crystal bowls, Tibetan bowls, drums and many more healing sounds.

Sound penetrates very deeply into the human psyche.  Sacred sounds create an internal focus for the person listening to them.

It is a safe, nurturing and nourishing space that is created offering an experience of transformational healing and deep relaxation.  One may enter into a meditative state while listening to the various sounds.

Our body, mind and spirit hold the energetic imprints of all of our experiences, healing sound vibrations can influence our emotions and our thought patterns, restore equilibrium and balance on every level of physiologic functioning.

Sound healing is very powerful and can bring to the surface old memories and emotions that are blocking you from living life to the full.  Your body will release, relax and let go of what no longer serves you and as a result, feel lighter and brighter.

As you transform, you transform the world around you.  When you change your perspective on life, your world view changes and peace of mind can be yours.

What happens at a sound bath?

There is no preparation required by you beforehand. I do recommend you bring a bottle of water and your own blanket if you prefer.  Yoga mats and blankets are available here.  Wear loose comfortable clothing.  You will be laying on a yoga mat on the floor covered with warm blankets.

I will begin with a short meditation, leading into listening to the sounds of gongs, drums, crystal bowls, etc.

Every sound bath is different and the instruments being played can vary.  Your experience will never be the same from one sound bath to another.  You will be transported to another space of deep relaxation washing away your stresses and cares.  You may fall asleep during a sound bath.

There is a period of silence at the end of the sound bath where you lay quietly and this is where the magic can happen when your body lets go and restores its equilibrium and healing happens.  I then guide you back to full alertness.

Sound baths can be attended on a weekly basis. Groups are small and pre-booking is essential.

From time-to-time will be held on Facebook live.
